War No More

As I lay me down to sleep,
I pray to the Lord Peace to keep.

While men with clean desks
Solve their problems creating a mess,
We, the people, live the day by day.
Now we say:

War no more –
We won't take it.
War no more –
Let's have –
War no more –
We won't make it.
We make our voices heard:

War no more –
We won't let it.
War no more –
We've had it.
We want –
War no more.

We've seen the faces of faces of many wars,
Seen people’s houses blown away.
We've seen the scars of the ones that returned,
Watched the living dead, day by day.

[Alternate verse, as recorded]:
I’ve seen the faces of World War II.
Our house was partly blown away.
I’ve seen the scars of the ones that returned.
Walked with the living dead, day by day.

When those men with neat lives
Solve their problems making others fight,
They make it sound so dignified.
That doesn't make it right.

War no more –
We won't take it.
War no more –
Let's have –
War no more –
We won't make it.
We make our voices heard:

War no more –
We won't let it.
War no more –
We've had it.
We want –
War no more.

As I lay me down to sleep,
I pray to the Lord
Our planet to keep.
