It’s
a Rat Race
Seven in the morning,
You kick at the alarm.
Crawl into the shower,
A towel on your arm.
You open the shade,
But you cannot stand the sun.
Then you check your watch again.
You know, you’ve gotta run.
It’s a Rat Race –
Subway is crowded,
Nothing you can do.
Someone steps on your toe,
Someone screams at you.
You want some coffee,
But you’re short a dime.
Then you run again,
Just to be on time.
It’s a Rat Race –
Monday is worst,
Tuesday’s a bore,
Always doing work
From the day before.
The list gets longer as
You add another chore.
Doing
overtime,
But there’s always more.
It’s a Rat Race –
Friday is party time.
You go on a date,
Take another shower,
Even though it’s late.
You pick up the phone
While you’re soaking wet.
Someone tries to sell a bridge to
Get you more in debt.
It’s a Rat Race –
A Rat Race –
You better run, you better run.
At night a dream
Is bothering you:
A big, fat rat
Is staring at you,
“I’m the boss,
Don’t you know your
place.
I’ve got you trained,
You’re running my race.
It’s a Rat Race –“
It’s a Rat Race.
Each
and every day.
It's a Rat Race,
Come,
get your pay.
It's a Rat Race,
Each and every day.
You
better run, you better run.
It’s a Rat Race,
It feels like a maze.
It’s a Rat Race,
Don’t
you lose your place.
It’s a Rat Race,
Keep
up the pace.
You better run, you
better run.
It’s a Rat Race.
Each
and every day,
It's a Rat Race,
Come,
get your pay.
It's a Rat Race,
Each and every day
You better run, you better run.
It’s
a Rat Race.
