God
and the River
God
said to the River – Yeah, the River
God said to the River, “Go to the Mountain” – and
God said to the River – Yeah, the River,
God said to the River, “Tell me what you see.”
The
River said to God, “I see the Mountain.”
The River said to God, “I see a Fountain.
It bubbles and it gurgles and it’s having so much fun.
I want to be here when my day is done.”
Then
God
said to the River – Yeah, the River
God said to the River, “Go to the Ocean” – and
God said to the River – Yeah, the River,
“Go, tell the Ocean what you’ve seen.”
The River said to God, “I’m going to the Ocean.”
The River said to God, “I’m staying in motion.”
Then he told the Ocean about the Mountain
And he told the Ocean, “I love the Fountain.”
Then
God
said to the River – Yeah, the River
God said to the River, “Go to the Mountain” – and
God said to the River – Yeah, the River,
“Go, tell the Mountain about the Sea.”
So the River hurried back – to the Mountain,
The River hurried back – he missed the Fountain.
But when he was there, he missed the Ocean
So he hurried back – he
stayed in motion.
‘Cause
God
said to the River – Yeah, the River,
God said to the River, “Go to the Mountain” – then
God said to the River – Yeah, the River,
God said to the River, “Go to the Sea.”
He was running, running, running, he was running every day
From the Ocean to the Mountain, from the Mountain to the Sea.
He got tired of running, so he stretched and stretched –
And he stretched – all the way – from the Mountain to the Sea.
‘Cause
God
said to the River – Yeah, the River,
God said to the River, “Go to the Mountain” – then
God said to the River – Yeah, the River,
God said to the River, “Go to the Sea.”
Now every day the River can tell the Ocean
Of the Mountain and the Fountain and the Valley between
And every day the River brings love to the Fountain
From the Ocean and all he’s seen.
‘Cause –
God
said to the River – Yeah, the River,
God said to the River, “Go to the Mountain” – and
God said to the River – Yeah, the River,
“Go to the Mountain – then go to the Sea.”
